What is Checkpoint Reporter?

Checkpoint Reporter is a cross-platform competitor logging application for running checkpoints in horse endurance ride events and fun runs. The program is built around Brisbane Area WICEN Group checkpoint reporting procedures.

Pre-alpha release 0.0.4 available

This new release fixes a lot of bugs found in the 0.0.3 release and adds a number of new features:

• Added some exception handling/logging in the database layer to avoid a UI bug corrupting the database. (Issue #6)
• Fixed a typo which mis-reported events to the JTable class, causing an array index out-of-bounds error (also issue #6).
• Implemented a touch-friendly date/time picker. DST support is a work-in-progress.
• Used date/time picker in sighting reporting form to avoid buggy custom date/time parsing logic (issue #9)
• Cleaned up checkpoint labels (issue #10)
• Added an operators field to checkpoints (issue #5)
• Added suggested report time to reporting table (issue #8)
• Forced re-load of navigation tree node when re-loading children (issue #1)
• Fixed switching to checkpoints view from add sightings pane (issue #12)
• Added a count to some table views (issue #7)
• Implemented a copy checkpoints from stage feature.

Pre-alpha release 0.0.3 available

This tool should be considered highly experimental at this stage, with the strong recommendation that competitor numbers be written down first, then entered into the system.

The system can then assist in organising those competitor sightings, identifying the division they are from, and providing some limited guidance as to which checkpoint they should be recorded against, before transmission back to base.

A rough change-log of the previous few releases:

• 0.0.3:
  • "Competitors to come" tab added to the checkpoint view.
  • Try to prevent the navigation bar collapsing down to a 1cm wide strip, instead setting the minimum size so a reasonable amount of text is visible.
• 0.0.2:
  • Added "Next checkpoint" display when reporting unreported sightings.
  • Keyboard navigation refinements to avoid hard-coded shortcuts taken by certain UI elements in the Java Swing UI library.
  • Compute the next unused checkpoint number, order and stage order, when creating new stages and checkpoints.
• 0.0.1: First pre-alpha release
